The Commission

Created by the Ohio Legislature in 1970, the seven-member commission is appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. No more than four commission members may be of the same political party. Three must be representatives from the rehabilitation profession, including at least one member from the field of services to Ohioans who are blind. At least four commissioners must be individuals with disabilities, including no fewer than two and no more than three who have received vocational rehabilitation services from the state vocational rehabilitation agency or the Veterans' Administration. Commission members serve staggered seven-year terms.
