A Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC), is a group of people who have successfully found or kept a job through services provided by the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission. By volunteering to provide input to RSC, educating their local communities about the valuable services RSC provides, and reaching out to other people with disabilities, CAC members charitably give back some of what's been given to them. Where are the Consumer Advisory Committees Located? There are 12 local CAC's in Ohio. They are located in:
Are there Qualifications to Become a Member? Yes. Because you would be acting as a representative of RSC and telling others about the valuable services it provides, it's important that CAC members have been through the entire rehabilitation process, were successful in finding or keeping a job, and are generally happy with the services they received. In addition, you must have been through this process within the past four years. What would be Expected of Me as a Member? In general, you will be asked to commit to a two to four-year term where you would attend four quarterly CAC meetings; volunteer in at least one area (RSC Relations, Community Relations, or Peer Relations); and participate in training events and exercises. What will I Gain from this Experience?Being a CAC member is a valuable and rewarding experience. It looks great on a resume. It's a good way to make friends who share many of the same experiences as you. It teaches you valuable life skills and work skills. And it gives you the opportunity to positively impact RSC's ability to help people with disabilities find and keep jobs. How do I get Involved with My Local Consumer Advisory Committee? If you're interested in possibly joining your local CAC, please send an e-mail to Robin Gorham at robin.gorham@rsc.state.oh.us. One of the Local CAC Coordinators will contact you soon thereafter with information about upcoming CAC meetings. Volunteer Opportunities Attached is a volunteer opportunity for CAC members to participate in mystery shopping at Ohio One-Stops.
